CAN I PICK UP A PLAYER AND (IR) HIM IN THE SAME WEEK?

YES

To do so, put your WAIVER request in as usual, and then follow it up with IR replacements FOR THE PLAYER YOU PLAN TO DROP.  I can decipher your intentions if you follow that procedure.

  Since the move is speculative (you may not get your WAIVER request), the INJURY RESERVE request will not go through if the WAIVER fails.

  Obviously, even if the WAIVER goes through, the new player MUST appear on the injury list in the same week to qualify for INJURY RESERVE replacement.
